Southern Summer Budget Bucketlist

This summer, I’m chasing charm, cheap thrills, and a little chaos - armed with a camera, a craving for something new, and just enough in the bank to make it happen. Here’s what’s on my Southern Summer Bucket List (on a budget, babe):

Summer Sunset on a Southern Sundeck

Day Trippin’

  • Montgomery, AL

If you haven’t been to The Legacy Museum and Memorial, it’s time. It’s $5 for an all-day ticket and will knock the wind out of you in the best, most necessary way. Heavy but honest. Afterwards, I’ll need something comforting - like a biscuit sandwich or something caffeinated and creamy from a nearby café. I’ll cry a little, then eat a lot.

  • Pine Mountain, GA

Pine Mountain is what I imagine Nancy Meyers would shoot if she did Southern Appalachia. I’m hiking early (mostly for the photo ops), then hitting the antique shops downtown. I'm manifesting a velvet painting or some porcelain tchotchke I absolutely do not need.

  • Providence Canyon, GA

Welcome to Little Grand Canyon—yes, she’s dramatic, and yes, she’s worth it. The cliffs are red, the hike is short, and if I don’t take at least one photo pretending I’m in Utah, did I even go?

  • Columbus, GA

Usually, when I am in Columbus, I am mucking stall and being the ultimate horsegirl. This summer, I am so excited to explore the food halls, booming art scene, and fun antique stores all around town.

Summer Photos I’m Dying to Shoot (Someone Call Vogue)

I’m not just living—I’m documenting. There are a few dreamy shots still living rent-free in my head:

  • 🍦 Ice Cream Date

I want film photos that look like a vintage rom-com. Drippy cones, laughter, someone wiping their mouth with the back of their hand.

  • 🌊 Beach Sunrise

Golden light, salt air, oversized hoodie. Bonus points if there’s a dog.

  • 🔥 Bonfire Session (S’mores + Smooches Edition)

Think glowy skin, sticky fingers, slow dancing under string lights. If Nicholas Sparks was a little weirder.

Sunset on Mobile Bay. June 2025.

Sunsets, Side Streets & Selfies

  • Jekyll Island, GA

The Golden Isle of Georgia has always been a destination of my summer travels. I can’t wait to explore Driftwood Beach at sunrise, and more importantly, eat some delirious seafood!

  • Jackson, MS

The home of the Delta Blues is also home to some dear friends of mine. I am honored to be their go-to family photographer, and they are in need of some new portraits. So I will be singing the Blues on my way through!
